Married 28 Jan 1828 at Denton Co Durham to Margaret PEACOCK, dau Revd Thomas Peacock by whom he had a son and 3 dau. She died 4 Nov 1874 and was buried in Elswick Newcastle upon Tyne. His 2nd dau Margaret married Alfred William Hunt and was the author of several novels.

Robert RAINE

Robert Raine was Stoker 2nd Class K/25989 on HMS "Black Prince" in the Royal Navy when he died on Wed 31 May 1916 aged 22. He was the son of Catherine Raine of Scarborough. His memorial is at Portsmouth Naval Memorial.

Age: 33 Date of Death: 10/09/1918 Service No: 72508.  He was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth RAINE (nee TOWERS), of Barnard Castle and the husband of Catherine RAINE nee (CONNELL) of 71, Bridgegate, Barnard Castle, Co. Durham. His memorial is at  VIII. A. 2. Cemetery: BERLIN SOUTH-WESTERN CEMETERY .  He left three daughters.
